Partnership working in Integrated Care: new resources available

May 18, 2022

We know that NAVCA members (local infrastructure organisations) are at the heart of their communities, working closely with health systems to improve people’s wellbeing. That’s why we worked with NHS Confederation, National Voices and the Local Government Association (LGA), funded by NHS England, to produce a new set of resources to help facilitate partnership working in ICSs. In this blog post, we explore more about the purpose of integrated care, and how the new resources can help organisations working locally to improve health and wellbeing.

The range of practical resources is designed to help health and care systems with their work around social and economic development – one of the core purposes of integrated care systems. For many people working in local areas (in the NHS, local government, VCSE sector, business, and more), this purpose presents an exciting opportunity to change how we work together, and with people and communities, to create a positive and lasting impact on people’s lives. Together, the partners spoke to over 150 people and worked alongside a select number of ICSs to incorporate wider expertise and practitioners, to enable the spread and adoption across all ICSs and accelerate learning.

This platform, developed by the Systems for Change project, captures the learning from systems making strides on the objective of supporting broader economic and social development. The learning platform contains a number of resources –  an introductory video, a practical toolkit showing the experience of systems involved and common approaches and characteristics for making progress, a podcast interviewing participants, a link to a session recently run at the NHS ConfedExpo conference, an infographic on the key themes and plenty of case studies.

On the new platform, you can access resources to help you: learn more about the topic and unpack key concepts; discover common approaches and characteristics for making progress; learn from the experiences of systems making strides; and access case studies, practical tools and further resources. These resources will be useful to all NAVCA members looking to work more closely with their ICSs.
