Programmes Manager

This is an exciting time to join NAVCA as we embark on a new strategy and develop new programmes to support a thriving, place-based voluntary sector.


About the role

You will project manage and deliver a wide range of programmes across England in

partnership with our members and other like-minded organisations. You will also design and

develop new programmes alongside NAVCA colleagues. Your work will be incredibly varied

and you will work across Health and Wellbeing, Digital, Data, Social Impact, Social Investment,

Business Support and much more. You will be managing a portfolio of work, where you will

design, plan and implement programmes with multiple partners in multiple locations. You will

need to work fluidly with the NAVCA team and NAVCA members to bring skills and

knowledge to programme design and delivery.


Your average week may involve working with data, coordinating partners, designing a

programme evaluation, writing a report and facilitating a learning session.


About you

This isn’t a business as usual role.


To succeed in this role you must be passionate about people, communities, collaboration.

You should be comfortable working with people from a wide range of organisations including

Charities, Social Enterprises, Public Sector and Private Sector. You will be an excellent

communicator, both written and in person. Emotional intelligence is vital. You should be able

to mix organisational and analytical skills with creativity and problem solving. Most

importantly you should be passionate about listening and constantly learning.


You should embrace working remotely and must be willing to travel. We encourage and

we ultimately serve.


Role Profile

  • Manage a range of programmes having responsibility for deliverables, budgets and reporting
  • Deliver aspects of programme and consultancy work
  • Develop and manage excellent relationships with stakeholders
  • Work with team to ensure evaluation of all programmes
  • Represent NAVCA at relevant stakeholder meetings
  • Maintain excellent data standards
  • Design and develop new programmes
  • Be proactive in sourcing and pursuing new business and funding opportunities
  • Proactively learn and develop your own skills and those of the wider NAVCA team
  • Work with our Communications team to share impact of our programme
  • Work with our Membership Lead to coordinate programmes relating to members.

Experience to be successful in this role may have come from a variety of sources including:

  • managing programmes in the charity or social enterprise sector
  • designing and developing programmes of support or learning
  • securing income (bid writing, investment, sales)
  • facilitating workshops
  • service design


You will be line managed by our Business Lead and will have no direct reports. You may on occasion be asked to work with freelancers and associates.


This is a fixed term contract until end of March 2020, though the expectation is this will be a permanent role. Working hours will be 35 per week.


Salary: £34000 per annum + 8% pension contribution
